Local Attractions

Lake Tahoe
Located on the California and Nevada border, breathtaking Lake Tahoe is an absolute must see when traveling to Truckee. Tahoe is a brief 15 minute drive from the hotel. If you have the need to do a little gambling, take a hike or just want to take a dip in the refreshing water, possibilities are endless to satisfy whatever your vacation needs are, Tahoe has it all.

Donner Lake
Just off of Hwy 80, Donner Lake is another must see when visiting Truckee. Only 10 minutes from the hotel and a flat relaxing drive almost all the way around the lake. Not feeling like driving, park the car, stretch your legs and walk and breathe in the crisp mountain fresh air. Donner Lake does have a few beaches that you can access for a fee or you can enjoy one of the many public piers free of charge (during summer they can fill up pretty fast so we do recommend getting there a little early).

Donner Memorial State Park
View the Donner Party Monument, then look up 22 feet and see how high the snow level was the winter the Donner Party was there. Also see the Donner Party’s cabins, walk along interpretive trails, view artifacts from their voyage and learn the families’ stories in the Museum.

Old Hwy 40
Just off of Hwy 80 take the Soda Springs Exit, follow this historic road past Donner Ski Ranch, Sugar Bowl and over Rainbow Bridge. If you’re lucky you might see rock climbers suspended on the cliffs or backcountry skiers or snowboards tackling the rough sierra mountain terrain. Take time to visit the Chinese Railroad Wall Monument where thousands of workers risked their lives to help complete the transcontinental railroad.

Fanny Bridge
Located in Tahoe City right at Hwy 89 South and Hwy 28. The bridge gets its name because people lean over to view the giant rainbow trout waiting to grab food that is thrown down to them. Don’t be surprised to see a fish over 30”…unfortunately fishing is not allowed. This Bridge is the only outlet of Lake Tahoe.
