Hiking

Eagle Falls and Emerald Bay (low intensity)
A steep 1.5 mile trail leads from the parking area to the bay and Vikingsholm, a replica of a 38 room Scandinavian home, which was built in 1929. Keep your car parked and walk across Hwy 89 to the Eagle Falls trailhead. A short walk will take you to a bridge overlooking the waterfall. If you feel ambitious, continue up the trail an additional mile to a gorgeous basin, which holds Eagle Lake.

Tahoe Rim Trail at Brockway Summit (medium intensity)
Just minutes from the hotel lies a trailhead for the Tahoe Rim Trail. It is a 162 mile path that encompasses Lake Tahoe. Park your car just South of Brockway Summit, cross the road, and travel up the trail to view unique volcanic features and beautiful vistas of the Lake.

Tahoe Meadow at Mt. Rose (low intensity)
Located near the Mt. Rose Summit on Nevada Hwy 431 lies the Tahoe Meadow Visitor Center and trailhead. This trail is perfect for families with small children and hardy wheelchair users. Trees, wildflowers, and rock outcroppings line the trail. The trail is a 1.3 mile loop with a subtle 40 foot elevation change.

5 Lakes Trail (medium intensity)
Drive south on Hwy 89, take the Alpine Meadows resort road, you will find the trail head a few miles down on the right hand side. The hike is 5 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of 1000 feet. You'll see Alpine Meadows Ski Resort to the South and Squaw Valley USA to the North. Continue to travel through the switchbacks and you'll get to the Granite Chief Wilderness (fir forest).

Overlook Rocks & Ellis Lake (high intensity)
Drive South on Hwy 89, 4 miles past Tahoe City. Turn West on Blackwood Canyon Road (marked Kaspian & Blackwood Canyon) and drive 7 miles to the trailhead. Head left out of the parking lot and traverse up the switchbacks. A 1 mile hike will take you to a stunning volcanic rock which is crumbling into the canyon. At this point you may choose to return to your car or continue an additional mile on to the serene shores of Ellis Lake.
