South San Francisco Area Guide

There’s no doubt San Francisco is one of the most vibrant, eclectic and exhilarating cities in the country. From its hilly, authentic streets of Chinatown to its expansive beaches and sweeping bridges—which you can explore on foot, bike or double-decker tour bus—San Francisco is a city you won’t want to miss if you’re staying at our hotel in South San Francisco.

Drive the eight miles up Highway 101—or better yet, take BART—to explore Fisherman’s Wharf, a famous neighborhood with arcades, seafood restaurants, candy stores, sea lions and old-fashioned gift shops lining Pier 39.

If you’re a Major League Baseball sports fan, catch a San Francisco Giants game at AT&T Park. When you crave exercise after inevitably stuffing yourself at the Bay Area’s renowned restaurants, rent a bike and ride across the Golden Gate Bridge while taking in spectacular views of the sparkling Bay.

If you’d rather stay south, check out Oyster Point Marina, a new recreational facility in South San Francisco that boasts a 33-acre park with hiking and jogging trails, picnic facilities, and open, sandy beaches.

Whatever you do, remember Mark Twain’s famous words: “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Locals will second us when we say heavy jackets and hats always come in handy in this city, whether it’s mid-August or late December.
