A CULINARY TOUR OF THE MEDITERRANEAN TEMPTS PALATES AT ESTÉBAN, MONTEREY'S HOTTEST NEW RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE
Mediterranean Tapas Adds New Flavor to Old Monterey
MONTEREY, Calif. — September 10, 2007 - Located next to the historic Casa Munras hotel in the heart of downtown Monterey, Estéban, a restaurant and lounge, will open its doors for dinner and cocktails on Friday, September 28, 2007. Managed by Monterey native, Kris Cowdrey, Estéban promises a unique culinary experience where guests can "sip, savor and share" Mediterranean tapas and Spanish-inspired cuisine for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night dining. Serving traditional dishes with a pinch of adventure, Estéban is the ideal place to socialize with friends over signature cocktails, tantalizing Sangria and delectable dishes. In addition to dinner and cocktails, Estéban will begin serving lunch on October 12th.
Estéban aims to take diners on a culinary adventure, featuring locally grown, seasonal ingredients and a satisfying array of fresh seafood, grilled meats and vegetables. In addition to the wide selection of Mediterranean tapas, Estéban's mouthwatering menu offers traditional favorites such as an organic beef burger and Monterey Bay salmon. Complementing the menu is a wine list consisting of premier local and global wines specially selected to harmonize with the flavors of the cuisine.
"Larkspur Hotels and Restaurants is pleased to bring Estéban, our newest chef-inspired restaurant, to the Monterey community," remarked Karl Hoagland, Larkspur Hotels and Restaurants' Chairman and CEO. "We are committed to incorporating local ingredients and flavors into our cuisine and aspire for our guests to have a memorable dining experience, complemented by outstanding service. Our entire team is excited to become a part of this community and know that Estéban will be a great addition."
The lively and inviting atmosphere of Estéban was created by Seattle-based design firm GGLO, with warm textures and rich colors inspired by the Spanish influences and heritage of Don Estéban Munras, the original owner of Casa Munras. Featuring an earth tone color palette, wood beams, mosaic tiles and copper and bronze ironwork, Estéban offers a refuge for great conversation and relaxation over delicious food and drinks.
Estéban's unique Mediterranean cuisine is created by Kenneth MacDonald, a chef with more than 20 years of international restaurant and hotel experience. His distinguished culinary career and passionate attention to detail make him the ideal chef to lead the culinary adventure at Estéban. Chef MacDonald's experience includes time at world-renowned Pan Pacific hotels in San Francisco and Bangladesh, and a variety of five-star hotels in Sydney, Australia, London, England, and Glasgow, Scotland.
Located next door to the Casa Munras, A Larkspur Collection Hotel at 700 Munras Avenue in Monterey, Estéban is open seven days a week for breakfast (7 AM - 10 AM), lunch (11:30 AM - 2:30 PM), dinner (5:30 PM - 10 PM), and cocktails and all day dining (from 11:30 AM).
