Sustainability

At Larkspur Hotels & Restaurants, we have embraced sustainability since our founding in 1996.  For us, sustainability is a big umbrella - it means long term, mutually beneficial relationships – with our guests, our team members, our investors, our communities and naturally, mother earth.  We care about people and nature and are committed to supporting and fostering the growth, prosperity and health of all of the people touched by the business activities of Larkspur Hotels & Restaurants.  Some of the ‘sustainability’ programs we support include Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots and Team Larkspur – our physical fitness health and wellness program for Larkspur team members.

We were early adopters of many traditional sustainable practices such as low flow water fixtures and energy efficient appliances and equipment in all 16 of the hotels we developed and built back in the 1990s. Other innovations include bamboo flooring, low VOC paints and stains, storm water retention and purification and solar water heating systems.

In recent years we have developed and implemented a formal Sustainability Program to increase our focus and commitment to reduce water usage, energy conservation and solid waste reduction.   Our team members have developed and implemented a number of high impact initiatives to address these objectives – including CFL lighting in all hotels and restaurants, recycling in our guest rooms and throughout our hotels and restaurants, a lower footprint housekeeping program to save water and energy, compostable food containers and utensils at all restaurants and food and beverage outlets, and re-use/donations of all salvageable resources discarded as part of our renovation and construction activities.

With the leadership and ingenuity of our team members, we will continue to develop and implement innovative ways to build on our Sustainability Program. One example of this is the pilot program we’re running in 2010 in an effort to find alternatives to plastic water bottles in our guest rooms.   We share our guests’ commitment to sustainability and welcome your ideas and feedback on our program.  Together we can make important and rewarding improvements as to how we conduct ourselves and our business to better preserve our resources and ensure the health and well being of planet earth for future generations.

Thank you for being a part of our Sustainability Program!
