Habitat For Humanity
Since 2005, Larkspur Hotels & Restaurants team members have participated in home building projects from Los Angeles to Seattle, benefiting eight Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the communities where Larkspur team member live and work. As a hotel company, providing lodging for our guests, we found that this partnership with Habitat for Humanity was a natural fit for us. To date, Larkspur has contributed 2,946 volunteer hours to Habitat affiliates in California, Oregon and Washington.
Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make a decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat has built, rehabilitated, repaired or improved more than 350,000 houses worldwide, providing simple, decent and affordable shelter for more than 1.75 million people.
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat houses.
